Expansion plans are  being progressed at 12-year-old business Abatis Fire and Security Group Ltd, having secured £20,000. The specialist in the design, installation, maintenance and repair of fire and security systems to commercial and residential premises, is now offering additional services, such as in house servicing of fire extinguishers.

And diversification into the solar pv and LED lighting sectors meant the current configuration of their premises was no longer appropriate.

The matched funding provided by Abatis, of South Humberside Industrial Estate, will be used to invest in IT, vehicles and plant to support the new ways of working.

Chris Stephenson, Abatis managing director, said: “Providing fire and security solutions is what we do. It takes passion and dedication to really know your industry, and it takes our specialist approach to make sure we deliver the right solution for our customers. We’ve listened to what our customers wanted, and changed the ways we do things.

“In addition to taking on two staff in the future as a result of this, we’re also looking at creating apprenticeship opportunities within the company to help support the local economy.”
