The Carbon Trust has launched a new £7 million Green Business Fund to help small firms to save energy and cut costs.

The fund will provide grants for business owners to carry out energy efficiency upgrades, such as improvements to heating and lighting, as well as offer energy saving training and advice.

The scheme is expected to support up to 2,000 small businesses to invest £55 million in energy-saving projects, which will generate lifetime energy savings of £130 million. Applicants can apply for up to 15% of project costs up to a maximum of £10,000 and grants will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

The fund will be open for applications for two years, with the first grant allocations expected to be announced in June 2016. For further information, go to: The Carbon Trust
