Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY) has devised “The Big Welcome”  for local businesses  – a two part visitor welcome training programme which shows how attention to the smallest of details can make a difference to customer care levels.

The visitor economy of Hull & East Riding of Yorkshire is worth over £750 million and next year, when Hull is UK City of Culture 2017, an extra million visitors are expected.

VHEY have come up with a professional training programme to help develop knowledge, build enthusiasm and create more ambassadors to tell the world about the city, region and Hull UK City of Culture 2017.

The Big Welcome 2017 is a two-part visitor welcome training programme, developed with tourism businesses.

The two parts are:

Knowing Hull – To help you see Hull from a visitor’s perspective.
Ever wondered what Hull looks like to a first-time visitor? Take a walk in those shoes on a bespoke guided walk with award-winning tour guide Paul Schofield.

You will get to see the city from a tourist’s perspective … and boost your local knowledge at the same time.

Customer care – showing how the smallest details can make a big difference.
Sometimes, the smallest details make the biggest difference when it comes to customer service.This entertaining and interesting course, run by training specialist John Lennon, means you’ll discover easy ways to improve the visitor experience.

The Big Welcome 2017 is a flexible programme. Take both parts in one day, or fit them around your schedule.
