Manufacturing Matters – Barometer offers firms the chance to have their say and ensure industry gets the support it deserves

The Manufacturing Barometer is being relaunched in your region, giving you – the senior decision makers of smaller manufacturers – the perfect opportunity to have your say on current issues, opportunities and future challenges.

As the largest survey of its kind in England, the Barometer will be a crucial tool in informing the Government’s industrial strategy and helping to shape future support so that SMEs can grow and be globally competitive.

The report, which is run by SWMAS and supported by Economic Growth Solutions, records quarterly trends in employment, turnover and investment, with a ‘special focus’ included to explore topical issues in greater depth. In the past, this has featured productivity, overseas production, sourcing and supplying within the UK and energy efficiency.

“This is industry’s chance to have a collective voice on what matters most to them”

The Q3 Barometer will be sent out on 19th January 2017 and will aim to record opinions and trends of SME manufacturers from October, November and December 2016. The special focus will explore whether the UK is doing enough to build its reputation as a stable and predictable business environment, whilst also gauging the demand for a dedicated industrial strategy.

It has been designed to be quick and easy to fill in and will be broken down into national and regional reports so that firms can map their own performance against the confidence, trends and opinions of their peers.

If you are an SME manufacturer based in England and would like to take part in the next Manufacturing Barometer Survey, please email enquiries@egs.live. Please note, we can only accept one entry per company and the participant must be a key decision maker.
