The first details have been released about two major new events for this year’s Humber Business Week.

Growth Hub Live will bring together dozens of organisations which can help SMEs grow.  In a new format for Business Week, the organisations will combine their efforts on two days at two “hub” venues – ensuring delegates can make the most of their time during the week and increasing the opportunities for networking.

The free events will include a packed programme of speakers and short practical workshops delivered by experts, alongside a marketplace for meeting support providers.  With at least two options on offer at any one time, businesses attending the events will be able to follow an agenda that works for them.

The events will take place as follows:

  • Tuesday 6th June, 9am – 3pm – University of Hull
  • Thursday 8th June, 9am – 3pm – Forest Pines Hotel, North Lincolnshire

Growth Hub Live is being co-ordinated by the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).  The LEP’s Humber Growth Hub is the central free point of access for all business support, funding and advice in the region, with a website and impartial advisers available to help businesses navigate the system and find the organisations that can help them to start and grow.

The events come after the LEP launched an £8m expansion of its Growing the Humber grant programme for businesses.  Advisers will be on hand to discuss how businesses can access the grants, as well as other funding opportunities.

Contributors at the events include the Humber Business Resilience Forum, the Technical Assistance Partnership for European Funding, the University of Hull, Innovate UK, the Department for International Trade, the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund, Vensis and Y&H Training.

They will be joined in the marketplace by over 20 organisations including the Acorn Fund, Sirius, the Federation of Small Businesses, Green Port Hull, e-Factor, Youth Enterprise, ENRG and Business Angels Humber.

The full programme will be launched soon, but businesses are now able to reserve a free place through the event website www.growthhub.live.

Mark Webb, Chair of the Growth Hub Steering Group, said: “These will be must-attend events for SMEs with growth plans.  From finance to innovation, marketing to training, there will be something on offer for everyone.  Whether you are looking for some specific help or just want to know what’s out there, this will be an ideal opportunity to meet the organisations who can help, hear from the experts and network with other growing businesses.”

Lord Haskins, Chair of the Humber LEP, said: “The LEP is a strong supporter of Business Week, which continues to go from strength to strength.  I am pleased that we are able to work with so many organisations to facilitate these exciting events for SMEs, as part of our commitment to small business growth.”
