Shop front investment in Kirton in Lindsey and Barrow upon Humber could see more visitors

North Lincolnshire Council is offering businesses in the conservation areas of Barrow and Kirton in Lindsey up to £7,500 to help improve their shop front to make them more attractive and appealing to visitors.

The money must be used to create a traditional shop front in line with the council’s Shop Front Design Guide – that offers helpful advice on how to create a traditional shop front.

Shops can apply for 50 per cent of the cost of the work up to a maximum of £7,500.
A condition of the grant is that the work must be completed within a year.

Cllr Rob Waltham, leader, North Lincolnshire Council, said:

“Shop fronts make a big impact on the appearance of a town centre and the character of the conservation area. Their condition affects a town’s image – if the shop looks scruffy, it is likely to put people off going in.

“First impressions count and we want to help make Kirton in Lindsey and Barrow really stand out. That is why we are investing £200,000 in the next two years to smarten up many North Lincolnshire towns.

“The scheme will support independent traders and increase the number of visitors to Kirton and Barrow and encourage more people to shop local.”
