Siemens have announced plans to establish a new state-of-the-art factory to manufacture and commission trains on one of the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Enterprise Zones at Junction 36, Goole.

These plans, which could mean an investment of up to £200m, could see an addition of 700 jobs for the Humber region, in skilled engineering and manufacturing roles.

A further 250 possible jobs could also come about during the construction phase of this development; with approximately 1,500 indirect jobs expected to be created throughout the UK supply chain.

This good news follows the announcement a week earlier that Y Pellets will build a £10million state-of-the-art wood refinery to produce biomass pellets on the Goole Enterprise Zone site.

So far across the Humber LEP Enterprise Zones we have seen 56 new businesses establish, with more than £830million of private sector investment secured. To date, 1,580 jobs have been provided in the Humber region across all Enterprise Zones.

At 1,238ha (3,059 acres), the Humber has one of the largest Enterprise Zones in the country, comprising a package of 30 sites to suit the needs of a wide range of businesses.
