Two new funding competitions for England’s farmers and growers
Funding from across the Farming Innovation Programme will help England’s farmers and growers to use new, innovative methods and technologies to become more productive, environmentally sustainable, and more resilient to the global food security challenges of the future.   You can apply for a share of £20.5 million funding in 2 new competitions in the Farming Innovation Programme in partnership with UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).   There are events in April so you can find out more about the competitions and make connections to collaborate with others (see event section below).

UK Seafood Fund: Fisheries Industry Science Partnerships scheme
Bid for a contract of up to £300K to carry out a full research project or apply for a grant of up to £20K to develop research proposals. Open to sole traders, organisations and research organisations.

Funding for solutions for UK diet, health and nutrition challenges
through an Innovation Hub

Academics within UK research organisations can apply for up to £1,937,500 to create an Innovation Hub, running the project for up to five years.

Support for entrepreneurs and start-ups who are combating climate
change

Apply for SHAKE if you’re working on a science or tech-based idea in the areas of agriculture and food production. You’ll get funding, training and business support to turn your venture into a reality.

Up to £20m in loans for SMEs working on highly innovative late stage
R&D

This is open to all sectors but the scope includes topics that are relevant to AgriFood like net zero (agriculture and food and other sources of emissions) and Health and Wellbeing (diet and food).

Funding for businesses with analysis or measurement problems
Analysis for Innovators (A4I) Round 7 is for collaborative innovation projects between businesses, the best UK scientists and cutting-edge facilities. There’s a separate competition for smaller projects.

£5000 grant for human nutrition research from the British Nutrition
Foundation

New university lecturers, postdoctoral researchers or research fellows in human nutrition can apply to undertake pilot work to generate data that can be used for a more substantial grant application.
