LATEST NEWS

Welcome toour updatedspecial Innovate Humber newsletter. This edition includes new events for you to explore and experience. The Innovate Humber project is designed to help businesses in the Humber Region registered with HMRC to develop a new product, process or service.

Innovate Humber

Most businesses, whether sole trader, company, start-up or established enterprise, innovate every day… often without even realising it. Businesses thrive and develop by adapting and thinking on their feet but a more considered approach to innovation can really help to generate fresh ideas and create value.

The Innovate Humber project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and offers a programme of fully funded support including workshops, webinars and one-to-one consultations running throughout May and June, delivered by experts specialising in Business Processes, Finance Funding & Investment, Innovation, Intellectual Property, Exporting & Trading Abroad.

The project also provides access to our Makerspace workshop and skilled team, dedicated Innovate Humber advisors and use of the new Innovation & Research Centre. Local businesses have been taking advantage of the project developing their ideas, realising potentials and planning for the future.

Businesses helped so far include jewellery designers looking to improve their digital skills; a natural food company wanting to prototype products; a creative practitioner trying to source funding; a wellness centre business working on their PR strategy and a whole host of businesses who want to develop and protect their designs, services and ideas.

So if you have a business registered with HMRC in the Humber Region and want to brush up on your creative thinking or develop a particular process, product or service register on the Innovate Humber project and take full advantage of expert guidance over the next two months.

The Innovate Humber project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Operation Programme for England Fund and aims to build the skills and resilience of small to medium sized businesses (1-250 employees) including sole traders across the Humber region.

——————————————————————————————————- Maximising the value of your business with IP – Free – Hull Central Library –  23/24 May 2023 10.00 – 16.00

Delivered by Potter Clarkson, this two-part programme is designed to give young but ambitious businesses the knowledge and support they need to ensure their intellectual property (IP) is playing the part it should in maximising the value of their business.

In our first session we will be looking at what IP is, how you use it and how you create an IP strategy that will help you achieve your goals and, more crucially, increase revenue.

In the second session we will look at ‘soft IP’ – your brand, designs, trade secrets and copyrightable materials, how to protect your brand once it hits your target market’s attention whether that’s via shop shelves, the internet, the media or social media.  We will then explain how you can use your IP to attract funding by showing investors exactly what they want to see from a potential investment.

In addition to this concise but comprehensive tour of the commercial side of IP, each attendee will also be offered a free ‘1on1 clinic’ with the most relevant member of our team to discuss how they can use their IP to drive their business forward.
