You can fill out an online application form to register your interest in becoming a school or college governor. You’ll hear back when there’s a vacancy in your area.

Your work as a governor can include:

• agreeing budgets, policies and objectives
• making sure budgets and objectives are being met
• reviewing the work of senior staff
• helping to appoint staff

You’ll be entitled to time off work, but you might not get paid for being a governor.
