What happens next

If your claim hasn’t been looked at the Tax Credit Office will confirm how much you’ll get (usually in an ‘award notice’).

If you’ve already got your award notice the correction could mean you’re entitled to:

• more tax credits – these are usually paid to you
• less tax credits – you must pay back any money you weren’t entitled to

The Tax Credit Office will usually write to you confirming what will happen to your tax credits.
