Homes England launches new development finance fund
Homes England and Newstead Capital have joined forces to support SME housebuilders by launching an innovative long-term development finance lending fund.
Homes England, alongside Greater Manchester Pension Fund, listed wealth manager Mattioli Woods and other private institutional investors, have committed £80m to the Initial Close of the Newstead SME Real Estate Lending Fund (RELF).
The Fund is to be managed by specialist fund manager Newstead Capital and the intention is to grow the fund to £300m in subsequent capital raised and

Government announces Energy Price Guarantee for families and businesses
The Prime Minister, Rt Hon Liz Truss MP, announced that typical households would pay no more than £2,500 a year on gas and electricity bills from 1st October through the Energy Price Guarantee (EPG), which will last for two years.
This will be paired alongside the existing Energy Bill Support Scheme (EBSS), providing £400 worth of support to households, brought about by a temporary suspension of green levies on energy bills.

The HEY LEP Skills Network is now established and aims to build upon the excellent work done through the previous Humber LEP Skills Network on behalf of the Hull and East Yorkshire area.

The future of maritime has been given a massive funding boost by the UK Government with an increase in training subsidies for cadets and ratings.
Funding for cadets boosted to £43 million pounds over next two years to help build the maritime sector.
Eligible seafarers will now get half of their training paid – providing a real investment in the future of maritime and securing future growth. Previously, the subsidy was 30% but increases to 50% for all new and existing tonnage tax groups and Support for Maritime Training (SMarT) funding. This now means that maritime companies can take advantage of an extra £13m of funding
