New grant to boost domestic tree production opens
A new £8.8 million fund to support domestic tree production in England has been opened by the Forestry Commission on Thursday 19 May, in partnership with Defra. The funding will help tree nurseries and suppliers invest in projects which improve, expand, automate or mechanise their operations. This will support efforts to build nursery capacity and grow long-term tree seed and sapling supply – delivering on a commitment within the the England Trees Action Plan, Government’s long-term plan
The latest government guidance for businesses employing people from Ukraine
New government guidance has been published for businesses considering making offers of employment to people coming to the UK from Ukraine.
Businesses who are interested in supporting somebody from Ukraine, should fill out a vacancy information questionnaire. Job opportunities will then be shared across the DWP Jobcentre Plus network and with the Refugee Employment Network (REN), a charity which works with organisations across the UK to support refugees into work.

The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund continues to support business to grow in the HEY LEP area.
An award-winning proptech business, whose software could help improve building safety, has raised £250,000 from NPIF – Mercia Equity Finance, which is managed by Mercia and is part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund.
The funding will enable Hull-based Bimsense to further enhance its platform before the introduction of new rules to improve the safety of high-rise buildings. The Building Safety Bill, which is expected to become law within the next few months, will oblige building owners to ensure that safety
