Business start-ups in Hull can now apply for up to £5,000 grants

2nd August 2021

Hull City Council has launched a new grant scheme which will
deliver up to £5,000 for start-up businesses in the city.

The scheme, through
Government funding, will allow the council to help the local economy’s recovery
from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic while supporting business formation
and growth.

It is aimed at new
Hull businesses formed or registered on or after March 11 2020. Most businesses
eligible for support are expected to receive grants of around £2,000, with a
maximum award of £5,000.

ESF Community grants available from Humber Learning Consortium

Humber Learning Consortium are pleased to announce the launch of the 6th round of their ESF Community Grants 5 project.

ESF Community Grants are part of the European Social Fund (ESF) program which is distributing small grants in the Humber, York and North Yorkshire region. The aim of the fund is to help unemployed people progress towards employment through access to learning and training opportunities.

Changes to the Furlough Scheme

5th July 2021

From 1 July 2021, the amount the Government contributes towards unworked
hours for workers on furlough has changed.
Between 1 November 2020 and 30 June 2021, the Government contributed 80% for
unworked hours (up to a maximum of £2,500 per month).
From 1 July 2021, the Government’s contribution reduced from 80% to 70% and it
will reduce again in August to 60%. Employers will need to top up the 10% and
20% respectively to ensure any workers who are furloughed receive at least 80%
