April 2021 Employment Law Changes
April 2021 has seen
several material changes in employment law rates and rules.
Increase in National Living Wage (NLW) and National Minimum Wage (NMW)
The NLW minimum age has been reduced from 25 to 23, meaning that those in the
23-24 age bracket will see an increase in their wages of approximately 9%.
Whilst this may be significant for those in this small age bracket, for the
majority the increase is much more modest. As of 6 April 2021, the NLW is £8.91
per hour, an increase
Procurement Opportunity – HEY Peer Networks Programme 2021/22
Hull City Council, on behalf of the HEY Growth Hub, wishes to commission the delivery of a series of the Peer Networks (cohorts) delivery in Hull and East Yorkshire, with each cohort consisting of 11 owners or managers from the SME business community participating in each network. HEY GrowthHub the New Growth Hub
The Humber LEP and Humber Growth Hub no longer exist. The Government stopped 2 LEPS covering the same areas. The Humber region was covered by both the Humber LEP and the Greater Lincolnshire LEP. North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire councils decided that Their location should be part of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP.
So the Humber LEP and Humber Growth Hub have been changed to cover just Hull and East Yorkshire so the name has changed to Hull and East

Final call for applications for SME Restart & Recovery grants
The Growth Hub is making a final call for SME businesses in the Humber to apply to a 100% funded grant scheme to support with Covid-19 business recovery.
First launched in September 2020, the “SME Restart & Recovery” grant scheme has awarded grants to more than 100 businesses to date, and with limited funding remaining, the Growth Hub is encouraging eligible businesses to register and then apply for the grant scheme.

Made Smarter: Funding set to boost ‘smart’ manufacturing across the Humber
The region’s manufacturers are set to benefit from a share of a £1.5m fund to support digital improvements in industry throughout the Humber.
The funding, part of the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Made Smarter Adoption programme, will support businesses across the North of England and the West Midlands to adopt more digital technology – helping businesses to modernise, to make improvements to their operations, and to create more high-skilled jobs.
