Humber LEP launch ‘Apprenticeship Toolkit’ to support local employers
Humber Local Enterprise Partnership has created and rolled-out a new Employers’ Apprenticeship Toolkit to help small and medium sized businesses in the area get to grips with the issues surrounding taking on and developing apprentices.
The toolkit supports businesses in navigating apprenticeship policy reforms and funding, including the apprenticeship levy. It also signposts towards local and national resources and demonstrates how apprenticeship training can help businesses of any size and sector to fill their skills gaps and meet their growth aspirations.

An apprenticeship is a genuine job with an accompanying assessment and skills development programme. It is a way for individuals to earn while they learn gaining valuable skills and knowledge in specific job role. Healing School, a Science Academy in North East Lincolnshire, contacted Careers and Enterprise, Humber LEP for assistance with a work placement for one of their students. This irregular placement would mean the student working in Oxfordshire for a week. This exciting opportunity was not one to be missed.

Humber LEP announces new Small Business Champion
The Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is appointing a new Small Business Champion to ensure that the needs and interests of small businesses are taken into account throughout the LEP’s decision-making.
Jo Smedley, Managing Director of Red Herring Games in Grimsby, will take up the role in September after being successful in an open recruitment process.

Fake Grant Email – Phishing
It has been brought to our attention by BEIS that a fake grant email is making the rounds. The sender poses as an employee of Telereal Secured Finance PLC (which is a registered company) aka Easy Finance and seeks to elicit money from a business by setting up a prepaid MasterCard account as part of a receiving their funding.
