Enterprise grants
Through the European Regional Development fund the East Riding of Yorkshire Council currently have a limited number of business development grants available to support eligible businesses looking to invest in growing and developing.
Am I eligible for an enterprise grant?
The grant is primarily aimed at engineering, manufacturing, business to business services and online businesses. Unfortunately if you are in the farming, retail or transport sectors or if you only serve a local customer base then you would not be eligible.

Partnership work key to funding business growth in the Humber
The Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and its Growth Hub works with a number of partners to provide support for businesses in the region.
There are some excellent examples of how different types of funding and support have allowed businesses of different sizes and sector the opportunity to grow.
Recently, working with partners the Humber LEP has been able to guide and fund the growth of businesses in a number of sectors, with a particular focus on equity funding.

Queens Award for Enterprise 2019 – Applications now open
Applications are now invited for the 2019 Queens Award for Enterprise. The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are free to enter. You must submit your application between 8th May and 12 September 2018. Previous winners of the award have reported benefiting from worldwide recognition, increased commercial value, greater press coverage and a boost to staff morale.

National Apprenticeship Awards 2018 – now open for entries
The 15th National Apprenticeship Awards is now open for entries – with new categories opening up for 2018.
One of the new categories is the recruitment excellence award – and will recognise employers who have attracted a diverse and high-quality apprenticeship workforce through new and innovative approaches to recruitment. The National Apprenticeship Service will identify one individual winner to receive a recognition award, rewarding someone who has made a special contribution to the promotion and delivery of apprenticeships.

Green Alley Award 2018: Looking for circular economy start-ups
The Green Alley Award is entering the next round: Right now, circular economy entrepreneurs and start-ups have the opportunity to present their business ideas. Landbell Group, originator of the Founder’s Award, encourages young companies to compete with their technology, service or product by July 1, 2018.

New changes to encourage small businesses to apply for government contracts
The government has launched a package of tough new measures designed to level the playing field for smaller businesses bidding to win government contracts.
Cabinet Office Minister Oliver Dowden has announced proposals to exclude suppliers from major government procurement’s if they cannot demonstrate fair and effective payment practices with their subcontractors. Other plans include allowing subcontractors to have greater access to buying authorities to report poor payment performance, signalling the government’s commitment to improving payment practice in the UK.

Grants for Community Led Local Development (CLLD) in Hull
Hull City Council is looking for high quality Community Led Local Development (CLLD) projects that support unemployed and economically inactive participants and enterprise development in 4 Hub Areas of Hull.
The Hull CLLD programme has received £4.79million of European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and European Social Fund (ESF) funding through the Humber ESIF Programme.
Hull City Council initially developed a CLLD Strategy using funding from the ESIF programme. This stage of the programme is focused on seeking projects that will directly support
