Humber LEP launches 100 Pledges in 100 Days Campaign
The Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) introduced The Skills Pledge in 2013, aiming to provide employers with a one stop shop when it comes to supporting their current and future workforce. Since its inception, a total of 373 organisations from across the Humber have supported the campaign which won national acclaim at last years Adult Learners Week awards.
Monday October 3rd marks the launch of a new campaign, with the aim of signing up 100 additional supporters to this already successful

Mariner Packaging Ltd Gets Help From The Growth Hub
Mariner Packaging Ltd has been trading in the manufacture and supply of packaging materials to the food, agricultural and construction industry for the last 12 years, seeing rapid growth in the last four years. Servicing markets in both the UK and in overseas sectors such as USA, Canada and Europe, it is currently operating from two locations in Grimsby consisting of warehousing/ office premises and a factory.

Growth Hub Adviser Helps Arialtrail Ltd Get Off The Ground
Anthony and Denise Fowler have set up an exciting new leisure attraction in North Lincolnshire.
Arialtrail Ltd operates an outdoor climbing and high rope course covering 6000 square metres of woodland at the Pink Pig Farm in North Lincolnshire. The course consists of 16 elements approximately 5m from the ground ending with two 100m-zip lines. The course has a safety system called a rope roller whereby once a person is connected on the ropes they cannot disconnect until they have finished
£15m Funding competition for health and life sciences
Innovate UK have opened a new £15 million funding competition for innovation projects. There is £5 million available for projects lasting up to 1 year, £5 million for projects lasting up to 2 years and £5 million for projects up to 3 years. Project may focus on technical feasibility, industrial research or experimental development.
The aim of this competition is to stimulate innovation in Health and Life Sciences (H&LS). Projects must cover at least one of the following Innovate UK priority areas:

New European Funding For Business Innovation
A European funding programme for businesses and researchers is to invest more than €600 million across 7 new initiatives launched this month.
Businesses can apply for support for projects in a range of fields including smart transport, autonomous transport, factories of the future,digital health, the circular economy and energy efficient buildings.
The funding is part of the EU’s Horizon 2020 fund for researchers and business, which aims to ensure Europe produces world-class science and that barriers to innovation are removed.

£250 million milestone for Start Up Loans
Since 2012, Start Up Loans worth a quarter of a billion pounds have been agreed with start-up businesses to support them in getting up and running with finance and support.
Funded by government through the British Business Bank, Start Up Loans generate a return on investment to the economy of £3 for every £1 spent. Businesses up and down the country from digital start-ups to recreational centres have benefited from the government scheme.

£100,000 prize to develop new a hospital patient coding system
Businesses could win more than £100,000 to develop a new system to help staff maintain coded records of what happens to hospital patients.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is seeking businesses with innovative ideas on how to help staff record what happens to patients in hospital and meet government targets.
Administration staff are required to assign clinical codes to patient conditions and the treatments they receive in order to support the reporting of what happens in hospitals.

University of Hull launches SME survey for ERDF Innovation Grant Programme
The University of Hull has been invited by Government to submit full applications for European Regional Development Funding to support SMEs in the Humber, York and North Yorkshire to become more innovative.
The programmes have been developed in response to calls for projects through the Humber and York, North Yorkshire East Riding European Structural and Investment Funds that will provide innovation support, innovation vouchers and grants for research and development.
