Small businesses benefitting more than ever from government business, new figures reveal
Small businesses won a record-breaking amount of government work, new figures released by the Cabinet Office reveal today (Tuesday 15 August).
The new figures, which underline the government’s commitment to helping SMEs benefit from government contracts show that UK small businesses received £21 billion worth of work in 2021/22. This equates to around £3.8k per British small business.

Employers invited to Cornerstone Group introductory breakfast
Hull and East Yorkshire Cornerstone Group is inviting fellow employers to a free introductory breakfast event next month.

Hull & East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (HEY LEP) held its second Annual General Meeting on Thursday 27th July at County Hall, Beverley, seeing invited guests and stakeholders participate in celebrating what had been achieved in the financial year 22/23.

The HEY LEP Careers Hub has been shining the light on green skills with two key events showcasing green careers to parents, students and career leaders.

Strategic skills hub plans to go to Cabinet
Proposals to create a strategic skills hub for Hull and East Riding will be shared with Hull City Council’s Cabinet.
In the plans, the hub would maintain core staff and focus on the future skills needs of employers.
It is anticipated that this could see benefits for the business community and employees across the whole region, as well as provide a ’go to’ structure for the various government departments involved in the skills agenda.
