Employers invited to share ideas and influence the skills systems for Hull & East Yorkshire
As part of ongoing activities to inform strategic skills planning by the Hull & East Yorkshire LEP and in support of the development of the Hull & East Yorkshire Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), HEY LEP and the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce are hosting a series of sector focus groups to gauge views and opinions on skills within the workforce and future needs.

Over £19 million to regenerate Hull city centre
The Levelling Up Fund has awarded over £19 million to Hull to regenerate the city centre.
It will support:
the development of a mixed-use space in Albion SquareWhitefriargate and the surrounding areas
Revitalising Whitefriargate
Whitefriargate is a beloved and historic district which includes 33 listed buildings. Businesses within Whitefriargate and surrounding areas will see:
unused floorspace brought back into usean increase in employment opportunitiesan increase in footfall
The city will also enjoy a new cultural and education hub. The hub will use digital technologies
The government’s Help to Grow: Digital scheme – closes soon
The government announced last month (15 December) that
businesses don’t have much time left to apply for the Help to Grow: Digital
scheme, following a decision to close the programme.
The scheme has supported businesses to grow, but with take-up
lower than expected, the decision has been taken to refocus efforts towards
other support mechanisms for small businesses.

HEY LEP Skills Advisory Panel and Local Skills Improvement Plan – Employer Skills Survey
The Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (HEY LEP) and Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce are surveying local employers about the skills needs of local businesses based in Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire and how they can be met. The results of this survey will inform the LEP’s strategic skills planning and also inform the development of the Local Skills Improvement Plan.
