About this event

It’s reported that almost 46% of businesses and over 26% of charities across the UK suffered Cyber Security breaches or attacks in the past 12 months alone! The good news is that 97% of these breaches could have been prevented through the adoption of some simple measures.

This series of three masterclasses will teach you how to review and strengthen your cyber security measures through the application of a series of simple tools and techniques produced by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). More specifically the application of the NCSC tools will help you to:

• find out how resilient you are to Cyber-Attacks;

• practice responses in a safe environment; and

• have a clear and actionable plan to strengthen your organisation.

Workshop 1: Human Fire Wall With Ransomware Simulation

Monday 17th January 2022 – 1-3pm

The first masterclass will begin the development of your cyber security plan, covering the following topics:

• Learn how hackers breach your security using simple social engineering.

• Phishing Attack Leading to a Ransomware Infection.

• Ethical Hacking Live Simulation – Group Exercise:

1. Identifying and reporting a suspected phishing email.

2. Responding to a ransomware attack.

3. Threatened leak of sensitive data Live Simulation.

• Post-workshop exercise: What do employees do with such emails? Is there a formal process for dealing with them? Do employees feel comfortable to raise alerts?

Workshop 2: As Safe As Houses & Insider Threat Data Breach Simulation

Monday 24th January 2022 – 1-3pm

The second masterclass will delve deeper into the development of your online cyber security plan. It will cover the following areas:

• Review post-workshop exercise from first Masterclass.

• Run Ethical Hacking Live Simulation – Group Exercises:

1. Working From Home. Understand both the benefits and the additional Cyber-Security additional risks associated home and remote working.

2. Insider Threat resulting in a Data Breach.

• Post-workshop exercise: Using the cyber security template and toolkit provided, review incident management plan resources and critical success factors

Workshop 3: 15 Ways To Protect Your Business From A Cyber Attack

Monday 31st January 2022- 1-3pm

The third and final Masterclass focuses on bringing everything learnt together and finalising your cyber security plan.

• Review post-workshop exercise from first Masterclass and the developing security plans.

• Run Ethical Hacking Live Simulation – Group Exercises:

1. Bring Your Own Device.

2. Being attacked from an unknown Wi-Fi network.

• How to both win and lose business through Cyber-Security.

• Value Protection Framework – GAP Analysis tool to support the development of the business Cyber-Security plan
