Support Available
Supported by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) through UK Defence Innovation (UKDI) and overseen in partnership with the four Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authorities, the Yorkshire Regional Defence and Security Cluster (YRDSC) fosters collaboration, accelerates innovation, and helps businesses to bring new ideas to market through practical support and commercialisation.
Following launch in June 2026, the YRDSC will:
- Provide a clear overview of regional capability, including business, universities, specialist facilities, and enabling assets, to improve regional, national and international visibility and engagement
- Facilitate better access to national demand, customer chains, end-user needs and challenge-led opportunities from the MoD, UKDI, the Defence & Security Accelerator (DASA) and prime contractors, offering stronger routes to market and clearer pathways for exploitation, commercialisation and pull-through into real-world capability.
- Offer practical support to members through market intelligence, sector analysis, awareness-building, Q&A, skills, workforce and talent pipeline development, recruitment awareness, and guidance on security, accreditation and operating in the defence ecosystem.
- Become a platform for knowledge exchange, mutual support and collaboration across the region and with other regional RDSC clusters, with improved access to regional R&D, specialist facilities and enabling infrastructure, together with better visibility of investment and funding opportunities.
